2025 JoLII Committee Meeting Successfully Held Online

On November 5th, 2025, the committee meeting of the Sino-Finnish Joint Learning Innovation Institute (JoLII) was convened online, hosted by the Finnish JoLII chair, Dr. Olli-Pekka Malinen. Members from both China and Finland attended the meeting, reviewing the past work and discussed key agenda items.

The meeting commenced with a review of the previous work and achievements. Professor Wang Jun, Dean of JoLII China, firstly reported on the progress made over the past year. In her report, she also shared the good news of the extension of JoLII funding application, providing stronger support for future collaboration. Then, Dr. Olli-Pekka Malinen introduced the Finnish JoLII activities and delivered the report about annual progress on behalf of the Finnish partners.

The meeting then focused on expanding future cooperation and preparations for the 2026 JoLII annual conference. In terms of future collaboration, suggestions were proposed by committee members, such as increasing face-to-face exchanges to deepen research collaboration and training; jointly developing AI courses in mental health and STEM education under the newly-applied TFK project; continuing to advance the application for cooperative projects between China and Finland; and promoting the establishment of sister school relationships between kindergartens and K-12 schools in the two countries.

Besides, the committee proposed meeting dates between late October and late November, with the specific venue to be settled in China. The 2026 JoLII annual conference theme will center on "Sustainable Development and Digital Futures," exploring the integration and innovation of education, psychology, and artificial intelligence technologies in fostering sustainable social development and enhancing human well-being.

Being highly productive, this meeting laid a solid foundation for deeper collaboration between Chinese and Finnish partners in the integration of artificial intelligence and education.
